PumpkinFest at Unity Park in Logan Square
The Chicago Hockey Initiative had a wonderful time volunteering at PumpkinFest at Unity Park in Logan Square on Saturday, Oct. 24! The CHI is a long-time nonprofit partner of the Unity Park Advisory Council, which organizes free, family-friendly events in the park. This is the fifth consecutive year the CHI has volunteered at PumpkinFest, which gave away over 1,200 pumpkins to neighborhood kids at this year’s event.
After assisting with PumpkinFest set-up, the CHI assembled our shooting platform and goal and got down to the business of growing the game. It’s always a really affirming experience to put a hockey stick in the hands of a student-athlete who has never had the opportunity to shoot a puck before.
We were able to distribute the Chicago Hockey Initiative Microgrant Program application to student-athletes and parent/guardians who can directly benefit.
There was a consistent line of student-athletes at the CHI booth. It was a great experience to introduce so many to the game of hockey in some small way.
Thanks to the Unity Park Advisory Council for the opportunity to introduce the CHI to their park constituents! See you next year!
Sincerely, The Chicago Hockey Initiative
