Bowie

Bowie

The Chicago Hockey Initiative is excited to introduce our 32nd Microgrant recipient – Bowie! Bowie is an elementary student from Chicago’s Northwest Side. Bowie is pictured on the bench enjoying the game of ice hockey, the greatest game in the world!

The three things Bowie enjoys most about hockey are “learning, being part of a team, and passing.” Excellent! Those are wonderful habits, not only for hockey, but for life in general. Bowie’s mother wrote that hockey has revealed “a very driven side” of Bowie, and that the game allows him to develop as “a leader, a learner, and a teammate.”  Bowie’s youth hockey coach, Coach Lopez, writes that “Bowie always helps teammates understand the game.  He works hard at every practice and is a good example for other players.”  The CHI is thrilled to support student-athletes like Bowie who demonstrate such a strong commitment to positive aspects of the sport.
