Joshua

The Chicago Hockey Initiative is pleased to introduce Joshua, our most recent Microgrant recipient for the 2017 campaign and our 27th Microgrant recipient overall. Joshua is pictured (in purple and red) at a recent hockey lesson for novice skaters. Joshua says “I enjoy learning how to ice skate and playing, making friends my own age, and playing real hockey games.” Welcome to the best game in the world, Joshua! The CHI is happy to fulfill this Microgrant through the generosity of our sponsor, Hockeyfinder.com.

Joshua resides in the Garfield Park neighborhood and attends parochial elementary school in nearby Oak Park. His teacher, Ms. Patterson, writes that “Joshua demonstrates classroom citizenship on a daily basis. He is always eager to help both his classmates and myself. He is a leader and goes above and beyond is his academics.”  What a wonderful endorsement!

Joshua was referred to the CHI Microgrant program by his principal, Ms. Leamy, who attended the Chicago Blackhawks GOAL Program kickoff last year and heard CHI President Patrick introduce the Microgrant Program to the teachers, coaches, and administrators in attendance. We’re very glad that Ms. Leamy was able to identify Joshua as a quality Microgrant candidate. Have a great fall/winter session of hockey lessons, Joshua!
