Quarter Barrel Classic

The Chicago Hockey Initiative and Butchers Union Hockey are proud to present to the 2016 Quarter Barrel Classic! The 2016 QBC will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Johnny’s Icehouse West from 8-11 pm. This sixth annual QBC will feature an on-ice skills competition and a relay race through an obstacle course, as well as a silent auction during the after party. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Chicago Hockey Initiative’s Microgrant Program, which provides direct financial assistance to under-resourced youth hockey players to offset the cost of equipment, instruction, ice time, and league fees. Skaters wishing to participate in the on-ice competition can purchase tickets online for $50 per skater. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on participants and peruse the silent auction items; spectator admission is free!

The 2016 QBC skills competition event will include fastest skater, hardest slap shot, passing precision, and shooting accuracy contests. A breakaway contest and team relay race through an on-ice obstacle course will follow. The highest-performing skaters will receive additional awards and prizes. Complimentary beverages will be served to skaters throughout the event. Helmets are required at all times.

Following the event, an after-party will be held for skaters and spectators at The Stanley Club, located at Johnny’s Icehouse West and featuring a bird’s-eye view of the on-ice contests. Spectators are encouraged to arrive starting at 8 pm and anytime thereafter. The silent auction will feature authenticated Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs memorabilia and other unique items from supporting local businesses.
