SUMMARY:Quarter Barrel Classic
DESCRIPTION:The Chicago Hockey Initiative and Butchers Union Hockey are proud to present to the 2016 Quarter Barrel Classic! The 2016 QBC will be held on Saturday\, June 4\, 2016\, at Johnny’s Icehouse West from 8-11 pm. This sixth annual QBC will feature an on-ice skills competition and a relay race through an obstacle course\, as well as a silent auction during the after party. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Chicago Hockey Initiative’s Microgrant Program\, which provides direct financial assistance to under-resourced youth hockey players to offset the cost of equipment\, instruction\, ice time\, and league fees. Skaters wishing to participate in the on-ice competition can purchase tickets online for $50 per skater. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on participants and peruse the silent auction items; spectator admission is free! \nThe 2016 QBC skills competition event will include fastest skater\, hardest slap shot\, passing precision\, and shooting accuracy contests. A breakaway contest and team relay race through an on-ice obstacle course will follow. The highest-performing skaters will receive additional awards and prizes. Complimentary beverages will be served to skaters throughout the event. Helmets are required at all times. \nFollowing the event\, an after-party will be held for skaters and spectators at The Stanley Club\, located at Johnny’s Icehouse West and featuring a bird’s-eye view of the on-ice contests. Spectators are encouraged to arrive starting at 8 pm and anytime thereafter. The silent auction will feature authenticated Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs memorabilia and other unique items from supporting local businesses.

SUMMARY:Bowling Bonanza
DESCRIPTION:The Chicago Hockey Initiative is proud to present the 2016 edition of our annual bowling bonanza! The event is scheduled for Saturday\, April 2\, 2016\, at historic Timber Lanes in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood\, from 2-5:30 PM. The event will raise funds to support the CHI Microgrant Program\, which provides direct financial assistance to youth hockey players to offset the cost of equipment\, ice time\, league fees\, and instructions. \nThere are wide range of activities in which you can participate at the 2016 Bowling Bonanza! Full-lane reservations (six bowlers) are available for $300 and includes unlimited beer\, wine\, and soda from a selected menu of options. Individual bowling packages are available for $60 an include the same beverage options. If bowling isn’t your activity of choice\, you are welcome to hangout at Timber Lanes and enjoy the beverage package for $30. In addition to the lanes\, their will be raffle featuring authenticated Chicago sports memorabilia\, restaurant gift certificates\, and a host of other items. There will be contests and give-aways throughout the event. Complimentary snacks will be on hand as well. \nWe hope to see you at the 2016 Chicago Hockey Initiative Bowling Bonanza in support of youth hockey and the CHI mission to Grow the Game in the city of Chicago!

SUMMARY:The Miller Show
DESCRIPTION:The Miller Show\, a memorial three-on-three tournament honoring the life of Chad Miller\, will be held at Johnny’s Ice House West in Chicago on July 11\, 2015.  The Chicago Hockey Initiative has been selected as the recipient organization for funds raised at this event. We are humbled to accept proceeds from the event in Chad’s name and enthused to disburse funds to under-resourced youth hockey players in accordance with his wishes. \nIf you are interested in playing in the tournament or otherwise supporting the event\, please contact tournament director Dylan Martin. This is a good cause\, people\, so let’s get out there.

SUMMARY:Pride Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Chicago Hockey Initiative will be marching as allies of the Chicago Gay Hockey Association at Chicago Pride Parade this June 28\, 2015.  The CHI has marched with CGHA for the last three years and we are looking forward to our fourth Parade!  The CHI marches in accordance with our mission to grow the game throughout Chicago\, specifically supporting CGHA’s policies of inclusion and their efforts with the You Can Play Project. \nIf you are interested in participating in 2015 Chicago Pride Parade\, please feel free to email Scott\, our event coordinator.
