The Chicago Hockey Initiative is excited to introduce our 38th Microgrant recipient – Diego! Diego is pictured on the ice and doing some dry land training at hockey camp over the summer.
Diego wrote enthusiastically about the reasons he most enjoys hockey: “I like learning the sport and improving through practice, meeting new friends outside of my home and school life, and spending quality time with my mom driving to games outside of the city.” What a great series of sentiments, Diego! Diego’s mother noted that after first season of ice hockey, Diego was noticeably more goal oriented, improved his mental and physical fitness, and impressed upon Diego the importance of teamwork and commitment. Coach Silverman writes that “Diego is a dedicated player who demonstrates sportsmanship in every practice and every game. He is committed to improve on the ice and motivates other players to do the same.” The Chicago Hockey Initiative could not be more pleased to welcome Diego to the Microgrant family!
