Jax

Jax

The Chicago Hockey Initiative is thrilled to introduce our 47th Microgrant recipient – Jax! Jax is an elementary student from the Edison Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side.  Jax and his family met the Chicago Hockey Initiative at a Chicago Blackhawks youth hockey clinic at Wentworth Park. Jax is pictured at the Blackhawks hockey camp this past summer.

Jax likes “playing in hockey games” when he has the opportunity to try “skating really fast” and most excitingly, “juking other players when carrying the puck.”  That is a solid list of hockey enthusiasms!  Jax’s family believes that hockey teaches their son “confidence and character. He is learning social skills as we works his his teammates and friends. He is learning to be individually competitive while being part of a team.”  Sounds like a solid skill set in development!  Jax’s coach, coach Pope writes that “Jax always shows great sportsmanship in helping other players up off the ice. He picks up other players’ sticks when they drop them. And he always acknowledges his teammates, win or lose.” It’s so great to hear that Jax is such a solid teammate and rink citizen!

The CHI is happy to support Jax throughout this fall and winter season!
