Adam

The Chicago Hockey Initiative is very proud to introduce our 48th Microgrant recipient – Adam! Adam is a high school student from south suburban Chicago. A rangy, left-handed defenseman, Adam is pictured moving the puck for the legendary St. Rita Mustangs squad.

Adam’s school year and hockey season are off to a smashing start. Adam recently earned the Heeney Award for academic excellence and his squad started the year with an 8-0 shutout win.  “The thrill of hockey is just amazing. The excitement of making a good play and my team scoring is priceless. The brotherhood of my team is also very special. We stick together all the time as a team and that’s something you can’t find many other place” wrote Adam in his Microgrant application – which gave the CHI goosebumps.  Adam’s mother also appreciates that hockey has helped Adam develop “confidence, sportsmanship, dedication to hard work, and drive to succeed.”  Adam’s teacher, Ms. Pangrazio, writes that “Adam is an exceptional student. He is always prepared for class and involved in class discussion or lab work. He works well with his peers and is quick to help classmates. Adam exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete.”  Well, that is about as good as it gets for us at the CHI. We are so proud to join the Adam’s community!
