Timmy

The Chicago Hockey Initiative is thrilled to introduce our 51st Microgrant recipient – Timmy!  Timmy is an elementary school student from Chicago’s Near South Side and discovered his passion for hockey through the Chicago Blackhawks youth clinics at Chicago Parks District partner rinks last winter.  Timmy is pictured at MB Ice Arena following an expert fitting in some new gear by members of the Chicago Blackhawks Youth Hockey department, with whom the CHI collaborated to fulfill this Microgrant.

Timmy wrote in his Microgrant application that he enjoys hockey because it makes him “feel fast and strong.”  That’s the exhilaration of the game, Timmy! Timmy’s mother wrote that hockey is empowering for Timmy, and helps him build confidence and new relationships with coaches and kids. All good outcomes!  Timmy’s CPD basketball coach, Coach Harper, endorsed Timmy’s work ethic and willingness to help teammates.

And thanks to Chicago Blackhawks Youth Hockey, Timmy was able to shoot the puck during the Hawks final preseason game! What an experience! The CHI is so proud to be part of your fan club, Timmy!
