The Chicago Initiative is thrilled to introduce our 29th Microgrant award recipient – Logan! Logan is a goaltender and elementary student from Northwest Indiana. The CHI is very proud to have Logan, nicknamed “The Yeti,” as our first Microgrant recipient of 2018! This Microgrant was fulfilled through the generosity of our corporate partner, Capital One.
Logan enjoys hockey because he likes “being a goalie and making butterfly saves and glove saves. I like making new friends!” Great to hear, Logan! Building skills and experiencing camaraderie are two great things to take from the game of hockey. Logan’s parents wrote very eloquently of the impact hockey has on their son: “Hockey benefits Logan because it teaches him balance between academics and athletics at a young age, allows him the opportunity to make new friends, and builds his self-confidence.” We couldn’t agree more. Logan’s teacher, Ms. Kosiba, wrote in his application that “ Logan is a very caring to his peers. He is always willing to help a classmate in need. Logan is a wonderful child!”
The Chicago Hockey Initiative feels quite fortunate to encounter student-athletes like Logan and assist with their participation in the great game of hockey. Here’s a wonderful 2018, everyone!
