The Chicago Hockey Initiative is excited to introduce our 28th Microgrant recipient…Penner! Penner is pictured in the locker room getting geared up for practice, complete with a solid hockey smile!  This moment of Microgrant and hockey happiness was fulfilled through the support of our sponsor, Hockeyfinder.com.

Penner is a resident of the Dunning/Belmont Heights neighborhood in Chicago, where he is homeschooled in the elementary grades by his parents. Penner will compete in a nearby suburban league this season.

Penner encountered the CHI Microgrant Program while participating in a Chicago Blackhawks youth hockey clinic at Riis Park last season, where CHI President Patrick and Secretary Carly were distributing applications. We’re very pleased that Penner and his parents followed up with complete and compelling Microgrant application, and it was great to meet the entire family at CHI Family Skate this summer. Here’s to another great season of skating!
